First Anniversary on Multiply–Thank yous are in order!

And I almost missed it!

I am actually pretty surprised that I forgot about this anniversary, considering that the anniversary of my joining Multiply is also the anniversary of when I started taking Chipper Cupcakes seriously. I went to work today excited because it’s our department’s feast day (it’s the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, whom our department adopted as our patron a few decades ago–because he’s a philosopher, too!) and went to work, checked students’ quizzes, and watched a movie that I was thinking of screening to my students…

…and it only hit me now, once that I got home, that I almost missed this milestone in the journey of Chipper Cupcakes. Good thing–nakaabot pa ako!

I was toying with the idea of making a promo for the anniversary, but it’s kind of too late now. But it’s never too late to express gratitude and thanks, and I have so many people to thank for making this first year of being on Multiply such a great year–it was much, much more than I ever imagined it would be. I mean–appearances in a newspaper and two TV shows, making so many new friends, and having so many new people try out the cupcakes that I really bake from the heart? I never imagined this when I started my Multiply site.

Where do I start?

I am grateful for all my clients–some of whom have become regulars–who took the plunge and tried out Chipper Cupcakes, many without having ever tasted my cupcakes prior to that moment. I am grateful for your support and encouragement and feedback! I would like to mention you all, but I’m afraid that I might miss some, so hindi na lang, para fair. But really, thank you because, if not for you and your faith in me, Chipper Cupcakes will not have grown so quickly.

I am also very grateful to my Filipina Homebakers Online family! What began as a simple support group that I started with Nikka Alejar has now become a thriving, active community of women passionate about baking. In them, I found my second family on the web.

I am also grateful to my friends (from college, from JVP) and colleagues/officemates, many of whom were my earliest supporters and taste-testers. You know who you are, guys.

I am grateful, too, to Ms. Anne of the Manila Bulletin, Kaye of UsGirls, and Karen of The Sweet Life, for giving me the privilege of being featured on your shows. I never imagined being on TV for cupcakes. Ever.

Most of all, I am grateful to the three most important people in my life: Mama, Dad, and K. Mama and Dad are my number one supporters in Chipper Cupcakes. Mama is the financial brains behind this operation–she keeps my accounts, helps me cost my cupcakes, and is even a “delivery girl” when needed, all while also working and starting her own business. Dad is the person who first introduced me to baking, and helps me bake when I really can do it alone any more. K. is my boyfriend–who has also been my taste-tester, driver, marketer, business consultant, and shoulder to cry on when the stress sinks in. Hee. Pang all-around! Without their support and strength, I wouldn’t be able to be where I am today, celebrating this first year of serving and sharing my love for sweet things.

Last, but not least, here are photos of our new holiday flavor, Mint Chocolate Candy Cane! Just a note to customers, though–I decorates the cupcakes in these photos with crushed peppermint candy cane as I originally planned, but it seems like I have to change the decoration to red-green-white sprinkles–the candy cane melts after a couple of hours.

Christmas Packages–Mixin’ it up!

I’ve had a couple of loyal clients ask me about this over the couple of days, and I figured I might as well share it with everyone. They’ve been asking about the Christmas Packages, and if they really should meet the minimum order for each package. Their question has been–what if I’m getting a mix of the different packages?
Of course, I hadn’t thought of that before, silly me! Hehe.
So, for those who want to get a mix of the different Christmas packages, please don’t be intimidated by the minimum number of orders for each package. For mixed packages, I only request that you place an order that costs a minimum total of Php1500.

What do I mean? Take this example:
Order for Juana Dela Cruz, delivery to Makati
1 box, Package 2 = Php535
2 boxes, Package 3 (Php225 each) = Php550
3 boxes, Package 4 (Php120 each) = Php360
Total = Php1445 + delivery fee of 150 = Php1595

Christmas Updates: now with weekday delivery!

After talking it over with my parents (thanks mom and dad!) we now offer limited weekday delivery during the Christmas season.
Delivery will be limited to certain areas, and subject to a variable delivery charge, and will be on a first come, first served basis.

Halloween Cupcakes!

This Halloween, treat yourself to a dozen blood-red velvet cupcakes with assorted spooky toppers! One dozen of the specially-decorated treats costs Php640. That’s a dozen red velvet cupcakes (tinted extra dark to look like blood), frosted with vanilla cream cheese frosting, and topped with halloween toppers.

Hi everyone! Thanks for your continued support of Chipper Cupcakes! I’m back after a two week-long, self-imposed hiatus from checking my email and multiply site, and over a month-long hiatus from checking my i.ph site. It was the end of the semester, which meant that I had a lot of work in my day job (teaching philosophy!) and wouldn’t have enough time to spare for baking.

I have a lot of long-overdue items to post, though, and some other announcements coming up in the next few weeks, so please keep your eyes peeled!

Chipper Cupcakes on the Radio!

This is a bit last minute, but I only confirmed it today, as well! Chipper Cupcakes/PJ Mariano will be featured tomorrow night in a segment for University Rock, a show on NU107. Tune in to NU107.5 (FM), I think the segment is airing sometime between 10-11pm, it’ll be live so I really don’t know the exact time.
The whole day today I wasn’t nervous about this, but now, I suddenly am!!!!

My new flavors–strictly for adults–and the results of the contest!

Welcome Chipper Cupcakes’ two newest flavors: Screwdriver and Red Wine and Chocolate!   

The Screwdriver is named after its namesake, the classic Screwdriver cocktail. It’s a fragrant orange cake (made only with real oranges!) lightly soaked in vodka for that extra kick. It’s topped with a dollop of orange-vodka buttercream. The Screwdriver sells for Php 42/piece, minimum order is 1 dozen of this flavor.

Red Wine and Dark Chocolate need no further explanation. The red wine cupcake base is glazed with a rich dark chocolate ganache, and topped with a small swirl of dulce de leche, evoking the classic combination of red wine and dark chocolate. The Red Wine & Dark Chocolate cupcakes are Php44 each, minimum order of 1 doz.

Sadly, there were no winners in the “guess the flavors” context. But the following people are the runners-up. As consolation prizes, they will receive 6 pieces of the cupcake which their guess was close to
