lions, tigers, and bears, oh my!
Thursday, March 27, 2008It’s been a busy month for me–just last Easter Sunday, I had two orders, one for a baptism and one for a birthday party. This weekend, I have even more! It’ll also be my first time to supply cupcakes for a wedding–I promise to put up pictures of that, definitely!
In the meantime, here are photos of the animal cupcakes I made for Mavic L.–her child’s birthday party had a Noah’s Ark them, and these are what I came up with. These are chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting.
Belated happy Easter, everyone!
another individual package option :)
Tuesday, March 18, 2008I’ve been getting a lot of inquiries lately about the individually-packaged baptism cupcakes. Those boxes are of really high quality, and cost Php10 per piece.
:)
To all those looking for a lower-cost alternative, I’ve found one as well. It’s definitely flimsier than the box, but looks cute in tandem with certain colors (I’m thinking pastels would look great in it.) These containers cost Php7 each.
Here are a couple of sample pictures, from Chelle’s order last weekend:
Cupcakes with a Cause
Tuesday, March 11, 2008Cupcakes are only one of my many passions–teaching is one, and social responsibility is another. And since–at this point at least–I know nothing about social entrepreneurship (which I hope to change in the next few months), I’ll do something else. It’s not much really, but it’s the least I can do.
So, starting this month, March 2008, I’m starting Cupcakes with a Cause. The plan is to have a different organization as a beneficiary each month, to which I’ll contribute at least 2% of my profits for that month. And my first beneficiary will be:
Jesuit Volunteers Philippines (JVP)
I’m beginning with beneficiaries that are closest to my heart, and JVP is one of them. The longest running volunteer program in the Philippines, JVP send young people aged 18-35 to under-resourced communities all over the Philippines for at least one year.
As a former volunteer myself, I was sent to serve in an indigenous people’s school (the first of it’s kind to be recognized and accredited by the DepEd!) in Bukidnon, where I taught English and Math.
All orders this month will benefit JVP, and will support all the volunteers currently working in over 15 areas all over the Philippines.
Definitely a great way to kick off Cupcakes with a Cause.
:)
"under the sea" themed cupcakes
Sunday, March 9, 2008I’ve lately been doing more and more themed cupcakes, and these are the most recent ones, made for Holli M.’s daughter’s 7th birthday. The theme was "The Little Mermaid," and this is what I came up with to complement their theme. I hand-molded the toppers out of fondant myself! (And, they’re not too bad for a first-timer’s work, if I may say so myself.) The cake base is classic chocolate, and the toppers rest on blue vanilla buttercream frosting.
superhero cupcakes! and other news
Thursday, March 6, 2008This was a fun order made for Cathy T.’s son. I enjoyed doing them, but I’m not so sure I can do them again in the near future (the toppers are so time consuming! and I’ll be working on my thesis!). They’re actually chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting. I chose to make superman, batman, and the flash insignias because the birthday is justice league-themed. I was at first considering adding a wonder woman insignia to the mix (for at least token female representation), but It was too detailed for me to do in the short span of time I had.
An important update–I will be raising my prices by the end of March, due to the increase in prices of so many basic commodities (LPG, flour, eggs…). Thanks again for supporting chipper cupcakes!
